Dhaka Central University (DCU) has successfully conducted its undergraduate (Honours) first-year admission examinations for the 2025–2026 academic session.
The admission tests concluded on Friday (July 17) with the Science and Business Studies Unit examinations held in a peaceful, transparent, and festive atmosphere. The MCQ-based examinations were conducted at the affiliated Seven College examination centres.
The Science Unit admission test was held at 11:00 am, while the Business Studies Unit examination took place at 3:00 pm. Thousands of admission seekers from across the country participated enthusiastically, creating a vibrant atmosphere on and around the university campuses.
To ensure the smooth conduct of the examinations, the university administration made comprehensive preparations. Teachers, officials, and staff worked diligently to maintain security, discipline, and a comfortable environment for candidates while ensuring that the examinations were conducted without disruption.
Speaking to DainikShiksha.com, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Nurul Islam congratulated all candidates who participated in the 2025–2026 admission tests. “I extend my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to every student taking part in this year’s admission examination. Every significant achievement in life is built on dedication, perseverance, and self-confidence.
The admission test is only one important step in that journey. Therefore, I encourage every candidate to sit for the examination with honesty, concentration, and their utmost effort,” he said. Addressing the candidates, he added, “I firmly believe that each of you possesses immense potential.
Those who embrace perseverance, integrity, and the pursuit of knowledge as the foundations of their lives will be able to make meaningful contributions to society and the nation in the future.” Dr. Nurul Islam also expressed his gratitude to everyone involved in the admission process.
“I sincerely thank all the candidates, their respected parents, college principals and teachers, the university’s faculty members, officers and staff, journalists from both print and electronic media, and everyone associated with the admission examination. It is through your cooperation, dedication, and sense of responsibility that we have been able to conduct the examinations in a fair, transparent, and peaceful manner. Your valuable support has further strengthened public confidence in the university,” he said.
The Vice-Chancellor further stated that Dhaka Central University remains committed to ensuring knowledge-based, humane, and technology-driven higher education.
“Our goal is to nurture a generation equipped with integrity, innovative thinking, research capabilities, and a strong sense of social responsibility, enabling them to contribute to the welfare of both the nation and the global community. I wish all candidates every success, good health, and a bright future,” he added.
The university administration expressed hope that all remaining admission-related activities would be completed with the highest standards of transparency, fairness, and discipline, allowing the institution to move another step forward in its commitment to producing skilled human resources through the admission of qualified and meritorious students.
Earlier, the admission test for the Arts and Social Science Unit was held on July 11 from 3:15 pm to 4:15 pm. The results were published on the night of July 12.
Out of 19,028 candidates who sat for the examination, 7,265 passed while 11,762 failed. In addition, 2,697 applicants were absent, and the result of one candidate was cancelled.
The Arts and Social Science Unit has 4,498 available seats. A total of 23,365 students applied for admission, while 21,725 applicants completed the application fee payment process.
