COIMBATORE: Certificate verification for students provisionally admitted through the general counselling for undergraduate agriculture programmes at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) began on the university campus in Coimbatore on Wednesday.A total of 26,709 applications were received online, of which 24,435 were found eligible. Among the eligible applicants, 15,757 were women. Seats were filled through online counselling for 2,856 govt college seats and 3,051 govt quota seats in private affiliated colleges.Applicants selected under the Academic Stream were given provisional admission based on rank score, programme preference and community category. Those admitted were called for original certificate verification at TNAU.The university had issued email invitations to 1,400 candidates from across Tamil Nadu for the counselling. On Wednesday, 930 candidates were issued admission orders. After verification, students submitted original certificates including Class X, Class XII mark sheets, community certificate and transfer certificate, and paid the admission fee of Rs 20,000.The counselling process will continue till July 25, with arrangements made to handle daily turnout.
