MBBS Admissions 2026: AIIMS Delhi was ranked 1st in NIRF ranking 2025 among the top medical colleges in India, followed by the PGIMER, Chandigarh, in 2nd place.
Every year more than 20 lakh MBBS aspirants compete in the NEET UG examination for admission to top medical colleges across the country, including All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi, Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), and others. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will announce the NEET UG 2026 counselling schedule soon on its official website at mcc.nic.in. MCC NEET LIVE 2026.
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will conduct the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2026 counselling for admission to 15% All India Quota seats, 100% open seats at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), AIIMS and Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), and other top colleges.
According to the MCC seat matrix, there are more than 1.36 lakh MBBS seats across 823 medical colleges for the 2026-27 academic session. The counselling will also be held to fill a total of 27,868 BDS seats at 319 dental colleges across the country, as per the Dental Council of India (DCI).
Notably, AIIMS Delhi was ranked 1 in the NIRF ranking 2026 for the top medical institutions in India, followed by the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh on rank 2 and Christian Medical College in Tamil Nadu in third position.

Of the total medical seats, 63,296 are available in government medical colleges, while 73,643 seats are offered by private medical colleges across the country.
