Shahe Alam stands by meritorious but poor student Nirab

DHAKA, July 25, 2026 (BSS) – State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam has extended support to a talented student whose university admission was at risk due to financial hardship.

He has taken full responsibility for covering the admission and higher education expenses of Shafiul Islam Nirab, who secured admission to Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur.

Nirab, son of Selim Reza from Mahasthan village in Shibganj upazila of Bogura district, earned admission with distinction to the Department of Gender and Development Studies at Begum Rokeya University.

 

However, due to his family’s financial difficulties, he faced uncertainty about enrolling at the university.

After learning about Nirab’s situation, Alam immediately looked into the matter and invited him for a meeting.

The state minister handed over the financial assistance needed for Nirab’s university admission at the office of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) in Shibganj today.

He also pledged to bear all of Nirab’s future educational expenses.

Expressing his heartfelt gratitude, Nirab said the support had made it possible for him to pursue higher education. He hopes to work for the welfare of the country and society in the future, Nirab added.
