University admissions underway with increased scholarships and over 9,000 state-funded places
University admissions in the Republic of Moldova have started, and thousands of graduates are making decisions about their academic futures. Applications can be submitted online or in person until August 1.
From the early hours of the morning, groups of candidates lined up to submit their applications at Moldova State University. Although registration is available online, many chose to come in person, often accompanied by their parents, to ensure their documents were in order. In this admission cycle, the university is offering over 900 budget-funded places for bachelor’s programs and more than 900 for master’s programs. The young individuals we spoke with expressed a desire to continue their studies in their home country and hope to secure a place financed by the budget.
“At the Faculty of Economics, I am specializing in Accounting and hope to secure a place in the budget program. I come from the Transnistrian region and have a strong academic record, with an average of 10 marks,” says Elvira Grosu.
“My daughter has grown up, and I can’t help but feel emotional on such an important day. This marks a new beginning for her, and we are both experiencing it together. I wish her good luck; may she get into the budget program and have the best opportunities going forward,” says Ghenadie Grosu, Elvira’s father.
“As in previous years, USM is offering a wide range of study programs. This year, we are excited to introduce a new bachelor’s program in World Economy and International Economic Relations, which we have never offered before. We eagerly anticipate the demand for this program, as it aligns well with current expectations,” mentions Otilia Dandara, the rector of Moldova State University.
At the national level, universities have made 9,013 budget-funded places available for bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs. This year, a notable change is the increase of at least 40% in scholarships for bachelor’s students, regardless of their field of study, starting September 1.
The preliminary results of the admission competition will be announced on August 8. For any remaining unfilled places, an additional admission stage will be held in the second half of August.
