One hundred school graduates in Tajikistan have received honors diplomas and gold or silver medals this year, giving them the right to enter any state university in the country without entrance examinations and study free of charge.
The Ministry of Education and Science confirmed the figures to Asia-Plus.
According to the ministry, municipal and district education departments initially nominated 178 students for honors diplomas and medals. Following the selection process, 139 students advanced to the final stage, and 100 were declared winners.
Of those awarded, 46 graduates received honors diplomas in the humanities and gold medals, while 38 received honors diplomas in natural sciences and mathematics and gold medals.
Another 12 graduates received general honors diplomas and gold medals. Three students were awarded honors diplomas in natural sciences and mathematics and silver medals, while one received an honors diploma in the humanities and a silver medal.
The ministry said the final regional breakdown of the winners was still being calculated.
Preliminary data from Dushanbe’s Main Education Department show that graduates from the capital received the largest number of gold medals. Shohmansour district led with 13 recipients, followed by Ismoili Somoni district with six, Firdavsi with five and Sino with four.
The final round of the competition was held in Dushanbe on July 30. It brought together 139 students, including 36 from Dushanbe, 61 from Khatlon Province, 27 from Sughd Province, nine from the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region and six from Districts Subordinate to the Center.Â
The number of medal recipients increased significantly compared with 2025, when 73 graduates received honors diplomas and gold or silver medals.
The Ministry of Education attributed the rise to improvements in teaching quality, the work of educators, parental support and greater attention from school administrators to developing students’ academic abilities.
