Delhi University allocates 93,033 undergraduate seats for 2026-27


The University of Delhi has allocated seats to 93,033 candidates in the first round of undergraduate admissions for the 2026-27 academic session, according to a university press release issued on Thursday.

The allocations encompass 221 programmes across 67 colleges, covering 1,393 programme-college combinations. Among those allotted seats, 42,019 are male candidates and 51,014 are female, with the overall allocation rate approximately 86.1 per cent.

The press release stated that 218,284 candidates successfully completed registration, and 208,043 candidates proceeded through Phase II of the admission process. During allocation, a total of 15,942,385 programme-college preferences were considered. The university also allocated seats to 1,243 single girl child candidates and 242 orphan candidates.

Shortlisted candidates must accept their allotted seats by 11:59 pm on July 18. Candidates wishing to upgrade or reorder their preferences can do so until 11:59 pm on July 21.

For postgraduate admissions, the university has concluded the third allocation round for two-year programmes, admitting 10,240 candidates. Among them, 6,240 candidates froze their allotted seats, while 2,153 candidates opted for an upgrade. For one-year postgraduate programmes introduced under the National Education Policy 2020, 12,639 candidates have registered.

Further admission rounds include the second spot round for the five-year integrated law programme starting on July 17 and the third round of B.Tech admissions commencing on July 19.

The university will begin classes for the 2026-27 academic session on July 28.
