Ahead of the 2026 admissions, the University of Delhi has urged the colleges, hostels and departments to strengthen the anti-raging panels and also complete all the required arrangements by July 28.
The university is also in talks to set up Joint Control Rooms to help prevent ragging and ensure quick action in case of complaints.
This decision was taken on July 20, 2026, during an online meeting with college principals, hostel authorities, Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) office bearers and officials from the Delhi Police.
DU has instructed the colleges and hostels to set up Anti-Ragging Committees and Anti-Ragging Squads in line with the University Grants Commission (UGC) rules and Supreme Court guidelines.
The colleges have been instructed to increase the monitoring on campus, especially where the students will be staying.
The university has told the students that ragging in any form is strictly prohibited. Both students and their parents or guardians have to submit an anti-ragging undertaking as a part of the admission process.
There are also helpline numbers available for the same, so that students know where to seek help if needed. Strict action will be taken against those who are involved in ragging.
All these arrangements will be rolled out by July 28 to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for new students.
