Delhi University’s undergraduate admissions have entered a crucial phase, with Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) emerging as the most sought-after programme for the 2026–27 academic session.
More than 2.18 lakh candidates have completed the registration process, while aspirants have one final opportunity to fine-tune their college and course preferences before seat allocation begins.
BCOM (HONS), BCOM AND BA ENGLISH TOP PREFERENCE LIST
Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) has secured the top spot among applicants, reaffirming its status as Delhi University’s most preferred undergraduate programme this year.
According to the university, the second and third most sought-after courses are Bachelor of Commerce (Pass) and Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English.
Other programmes witnessing significant demand include BA (Honours) Political Science, the BA Programme, BA (Honours) History, BSc (Honours) Zoology, BSc (Honours) Mathematics, BSc (Honours) Life Sciences, and BA (Honours) Economics.
OVER 2.18 LAKH STUDENTS COMPLETE REGISTRATION
Delhi University said around 2.70 lakh applicants have registered on its admissions portal, while nearly 2.18 lakh candidates had successfully completed the registration process as of Sunday.
Among the registered candidates, 1,20,509 are female applicants, while 97,775 are male applicants, reflecting strong participation from students across the country.
SIMULATED RANKS RELEASED AHEAD OF FINAL PREFERENCE LOCKING
The university released simulated ranks on Sunday, allowing candidates to assess their likely position based on their Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores and the preferences they have submitted.
A simulated rank is an indicative position calculated using a candidate’s CUET score along with the programme and college choices submitted during registration. It is designed to help applicants evaluate their admission prospects and revise their preferences before the final allocation process.
Dean of Admissions Haneet Gandhi said the simulated ranks were prepared using the data of candidates who had completed registration by 5 pm on July 12. Students can modify or reorder their preferences until 4:59 pm on Monday, the final day of the second phase of the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS).
SEAT ALLOCATION PROCESS TO BEGIN FROM JULY 16
The second phase of admissions will conclude on Monday, after which Delhi University will begin the allocation-cum-admission process.
The first CSAS allocation list will be announced on July 16, while candidates allotted seats must complete the fee payment process by July 21.
This year, the university is offering around 71,600 undergraduate seats across 73 undergraduate programmes and more than 150 BA programme combinations in 67 affiliated colleges.
UPGRADE OPTION AVAILABLE AFTER ADMISSION
Candidates who receive a seat in the first round can either accept the allotted programme and complete document verification and fee payment or opt for an upgrade to be considered for a higher-preference course or college in subsequent rounds.
The university has clarified that candidates who pay the admission fee within the stipulated deadline will be given the option to either freeze their allotted seat or upgrade it. Those selecting the upgrade option can reorder their higher preferences during the admission round in which they have secured a seat.
Applicants who do not receive an allotment in the first round will automatically remain eligible for subsequent rounds, subject to seat availability.
Further, Delhi University will release the second allocation list on July 25, with the fee payment window remaining open until July 28.
The university has advised applicants to regularly check the official admissions portal for the latest schedules, notifications and admission-related updates.
SPORTS QUOTA APPLICANTS CAN SUBMIT MULTIPLE CERTIFICATES
For admissions under the sports supernumerary quota, candidates can apply in up to three sports or games. They are also permitted to upload a maximum of three merit or participation certificates issued between May 1, 2023, and April 30, 2026.
Like last year, Delhi University may conduct an additional physical mop-up round after the completion of the regular admission process if undergraduate seats remain vacant across colleges.
