Delhi University (DU) has started the admission process for its newly introduced one-year postgraduate (PG) programmes for the 2026–27 academic session, marking the university’s first rollout of the accelerated master’s format under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Running alongside the existing two-year postgraduate courses, the new programmes have expanded the university’s total PG intake to nearly 14,600 seats.
The newly launched one-year master’s programmes are exclusively meant for students who have completed the four-year Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF) 2022 at Delhi University. Introduced in line with the reforms envisioned under NEP 2020, the academic pathway enables eligible graduates to earn a master’s degree in one year, provided they have secured the required academic credits during their undergraduate studies.

As part of the first phase of implementation, the university has introduced 46 one-year postgraduate programmes spanning disciplines in the humanities, commerce and sciences. The new offerings include courses such as MCom, MSc in Biochemistry and master’s programmes in several language subjects, increasing the university’s postgraduate capacity by over 1,100 seats.
The conventional two-year postgraduate programmes will continue without any changes and will remain available for candidates who are not eligible for the one-year option.

Admission to all postgraduate courses will be determined through CUET (PG) 2026 scores. Aspirants are required to complete the registration process on the Common Seat Allocation System for Postgraduate Admissions (CSAS-PG) portal and ensure they meet the programme-specific eligibility criteria before the application deadline of July 11.
The introduction of the one-year postgraduate pathway marks a significant shift in Delhi University’s academic structure following the implementation of the four-year undergraduate programme. With the first batch of UGCF graduates becoming eligible this year, the university aims to provide greater academic flexibility while aligning its postgraduate education framework with internationally accepted higher education models.
