Ahmedabad: Gujarat University (GU) released the latest update on undergraduate (UG) admissions for the academic year 2026-27, with a total of 37,894 seats allotted across various programmes on Friday. The data reflects strong demand for commerce and arts streams, which continue to dominate student preferences.The commerce stream recorded the highest number of allotted seats at 19,799, followed by arts with 10,264 seats. Science programmes accounted for 2,540 admissions. Professional and interdisciplinary courses also saw notable participation, with 1,736 seats allotted in Bachelor of Science (BBA) and 1,128 in BS (BCA).The integrated programmes attracted 1,730 students, while the integrated LLB course saw 281 admissions. Additionally, 416 seats were allotted to the Bachelor of Science programme.The current allocation highlights shifting trends where students are increasingly opting for skill-based and career-oriented courses alongside conventional degree programmes. University officials stated that the admission process is ongoing, and further rounds may be conducted to fill remaining vacant seats.
