KUCCPS launches instant university admission portal for C+ and above KCSE graduates

Students who attained a C+ and above in the 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 KCSE examinations but missed university placement can now apply through a new portal.

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has launched an instant university admission platform that allows eligible candidates to select available degree programmes and immediately receive admission letters.

The new system gives candidates another opportunity to join universities without waiting for the next placement cycle, with successful applicants also qualifying to apply for government scholarships and Higher Education Loans Board (Helb) loans under the Higher Education Financing Model.

KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Agnes Wahome said the platform was introduced after the agency found that about 15 per cent of eligible students fail to apply for placement each year despite qualifying for university admission.

Speaking during a sensitisation forum in Migori County, Wahome said the response to the platform had been overwhelming, with more than 100,000 applicants accessing it within the first 24 hours of its launch.

She said the initiative was created to close a gap in university admissions by ensuring qualified students who missed placement get another chance to secure admission.

“For the first time, candidates who scored a minimum grade of C+ in the 2022, 2023 and 2024 KCSE examinations but did not apply for placement can log into the KUCCPS portal, select an available degree programme and immediately receive an admission letter,” she said.

The application window is open to eligible Form Four leavers from the 2022 to 2025 KCSE cohorts who attained the minimum university entry grade but missed placement.

“KUCCPS has opened its online application system for qualified KCSE holders from the years 2022 to 2025 who missed university placement to apply for instant placement,” the Placement Service said.

Helb Chief Executive Geoffrey Monari said students who sat the 2025 KCSE examination will know their funding status by August 31, ahead of the September university intake.
