New Delhi: More than 66,000 candidates have accepted their undergraduate seat allocations at the University of Delhi, with thousands now moving through the final stages of the admission process, according to the university’s latest admissions update released on Friday.As of July 17, a total of 66,251 candidates had accepted the seats allotted to them under the ongoing admission process. Of these, 6,826 applications had reached the “Approved by Principal” stage, indicating that colleges had completed document verification and approved the admissions.A smaller number of candidates have already completed the final admission formalities, with 896 applications reaching the “Payment Done” stage after payment of the admission fee.The university also said that 5,141 candidates secured admission to the programme and college they had marked as their first preference, reflecting the number of applicants who were allotted their top choice in the current round of admissions.The figures were released by the University of Delhi’s Admission Branch as the undergraduate admission process continues, with colleges processing documents and candidates completing fee payments to confirm their seats.On Thursday, DU had announced the first round of undergraduate admissions for the 2026-27 academic session, offering 93,033 allocations across 221 programmes offered by 67 colleges.The allocations cover 1,393 programme + college combinations. The shortlisted candidates can accept their allocated seat till Saturday, 11.59pm.Of the 93,033 students offered allocations, 42,019 are male and 51,014 are female. The university reported an allocation rate of 86.1%. It made 1,243 allocations under the Single Girl Child category and 242 allocations under the Orphan category, including 109 male and 133 female candidates. The university said 2,18,284 candidates successfully registered for the admission process, while 2,08,043 candidates completed Phase II of admissions till July 13.
